I’m headed to Cameroon for a vacation next month. First time ever on the large continent of Africa. My friend is serving in the Peace Corps there; I promised her two years ago before she left that I would come visit. Now her time there is coming to a close and my time is running out to make good on my promise.
Plane tickets booked, yellow fever and typhoid immunizations complete, malaria prescription ready to pick up at the pharmacy, tourist visa in the mail. All I’m waiting for now is for my birthday to pass so that I can leave on my trip!
(okay, you’re right, I need to remember to live in the moment. enjoy my birthday first, and then focus on my trip. will do!)
I’m excited. It’s been awhile since I’ve traveled somewhere to travel. Most of my trips in recent years have been to visit family or meet up with family or do something work-related. The one trip that wasn’t about that was really fun, but not exotic, not different, not strange, not what I am looking for this time—an adventure!
Who knows what’s going to happen…. I’m rubbing my hands together in anticipation!
