24/30 January Painting | “Stacking Books”

By | January 24, 2017

Day 24, 30 paintings in 30 days.

I’d prefer to post finished pictures, but this one’s kind of a doozy, and it’s not going to get done tonight. I think I should get credit, though, for painting tonight, don’t you?

The thing with stacks and stacks of books is that they’re cool to look at but very tedious to paint. I don’t know if there’s a quicker way than the way I’m doing it, but when it’s all said and done, I’ll have created every single book with separate brush strokes. I have a hard time visualizing how I might do large swaths of color and then just fill in with a little color and some detail. But that might be the better way to go, if I could figure it out.

I’ll leave you to imagine what the final product might look like when I finish it tomorrow:

P.S. One of my goals for the new year is to paint in January. My theme for all the paintings is “writing”.
