10/30 January Painting | “Chalkboard”

By | January 10, 2017

Day 10, 30 paintings in 30 days.

One of my goals for the new year is to paint in January.

My theme for all the paintings will be “writing.”

You’d be surprised at how hard it is to paint a realistic-looking chalkboard with eraser marks. I know, I should have just used chalkboard paint, and real chalk… Well, this is my rendition in acrylic paints.

The inspiration was in thinking about a beginning writer, someone who might end up being an author. You have to start somewhere, even if your handwriting is imperfect. You still might have something insightful to say!

Maybe you’ve started to notice the secondary theme emerging in my paintings… the quote. It’s something I have to live by, even as I paint it. If I don’t know what to paint, or how to create a certain effect, the only way to learn is to try it and see if it works! If it does, BINGO! If not… well, then I know that it doesn’t work, and I need to try something else.

Clarity comes with action.
