Swearing-In as Peace Corps Volunteers

Today is the big day—the official end of pre-service training! By the time you wake up and read this, I will probably be a full-fledged official Peace Corps Volunteer in Armenia. It’s an especially big ceremony this year, as this is the 50th Anniversary year of the Peace Corps. We expect to see many dignitaries (and important people) at our swearing-in.

There will be singing (I am in the choir) in both English and Armenian, a skit in Armenian, a solo song, and Armenian speeches by two from our A-19er group, as well as the walk across stage where we get to shake hands and be recognized as new Volunteers.

And so begins the next two years of my life in Armenia as a Peace Corps Volunteer.

Tomorrow I move to my permanent site and a new host family. Send good wishes my way!

Good wishes! I am watching through very heavy eyelids. Trying to pick you out of the crowd!

Waiting to see if anyone plays the very beautiful pipe organ on the back of the stage. Gram just played one at St. Anne’s yesterday, and would probably love to play this one too!
