Get a chance to do everything in the marketing department and build an extensive portfolio around one brand! Perfect for those creative types who love variety. This is not a job where you will just design or just write copy, for example. It covers a very broad mixture of roles that are subject to change based on your knowledge and strengths. Marketing team includes two off-site web and marketing experts. This position reports to Theresa, the owner of the company.

This is a full-time job in Sitka, Alaska during the summer fishing season and at least 10 hours per month (can be long-distance) in the off-season. The company is Alaska Premier Charters, Inc. / Wild Strawberry Lodge, provider of World Class Fishing for salmon and halibut, and Genuine Alaskan Hospitality.

This position requires a person with the following genuine characteristics:

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with minor supervision
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and adjust to multiple demands
  • Patience and high tolerance for revising and editing projects
  • Team player with strong people skills

Duties include all aspects of print and online marketing and advertising, including:

  • Layout and design of brochures, magazine ads, online ads, mailing pieces, cards, and more
  • Writing marketing copy for the above
  • Communicating with vendors and advertising contacts to stay on track with important deadlines
  • Creating, sending, and tracking e-newsletters
  • Providing creative ideas for new designs and marketing campaigns
  • Designing and ordering other promotional items

Graphic Designer/Marketer is also responsible for:

  • Keeping website, blog, social media, and online listings current through editing or creating new material as requested or deemed appropriate
  • Collecting client photos, and editing and uploading the daily Catch of the Day (single photo or collage of photos) to the website
  • Other duties as assigned

Possible secondary duties could end up being anything.

Possible secondary on-site duties include:

  • Assist client coordinator with client driving and touring around Sitka, Alaska
  • Back-up, clean, and troubleshoot computers and printers
  • Help clients check in online for their flights
  • Answer phones, greet guests
  • Assisting in other areas and departments (such as dish team, in the kitchen, housekeeping, yard work, etc.)

Required proficiency on a PC with:

  • Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver
  • Microsoft Office
  • Preparing files for print and web

Preferred experience:

  • B.A. in Graphic Design, Web Design, Communication, Marketing, or some equivalent
  • 2+ years of print and web graphic design and marketing experience
  • Using, Google Analytics, Adobe Contribute, WordPress
  • Using various digital cameras and uploading pictures to the computer
  • Computer maintenance, including installing and updating software, running virus scans, defragmenting hard drives, and freeing up disk space to make the computer run faster
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pound boxes (Fish boxes usually weigh 50 pounds)

Hours and compensation vary by season:

  • Summer fishing season (May 1-Sept 15): on-site in Sitka, working 8-12 hour days, 7 days per week. Includes overtime pay and tips.
  • Off-season (Sept 16 – April 30): can be long-distance, at least 10 hours per month
