Snowboarding at Grand Targhee

By | March 20, 2010

I woke up on Saturday morning to booming noises outside the window. It took awhile, but eventually I realized they were blasting for avalanches. Now there’s a noise I’m not used to hearing! (It brought back memories of the avalanche I witnessed in Alaska last summer).

KJ and I drove with Mike, a Jackson local, to Driggs and picked up Ben from our unfortunate group of friends who couldn’t get over the pass the night before. The four of us then went snowboarding at Grand Targhee for a half day. It was marvelous!!!!!!

It would have been nice to get there for the opening runs, with all the fresh powder they had just gotten, but it didn’t work out that way. No worries; we still managed to find some really good powder.

Trees, powder, sunny day, a local to show us the best runs… Who could ask for more? I loved it!!! I’m so glad we went.

We joined up with our entire group (six of us who were on vacation, and three friends who live in Jackson) for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. As I was still working on being vigilant about my diet, it was a little tricky to figure out what I could actually order and eat… Rice and beans, anyone? I settled for a chicken fajita without the tortillas, cooked in oil, with no sour cream. It was good, but I did get a stomachache afterwards, so there must have been something in there that wasn’t good for me. Impossible to tell what it was, though.

Overall a very fun day!
